Australia West and North

Our most recent visit to Australia was a trip in a campervan from Perth, firstly south to Dryandra State Forest and the coast, then up to Broome Bird Obsevatory through the outback, via Darwin to the Tablelands Highway and back to Darwin. This enabled us to see most of the Western specialities, and some difficult species in the "Top End". In particular the west is very good for parrots, although Hooded is endemic to NT. Many species we had seen in Queensland, but many were new or we saw better. If you want to see most of Australia's species, the South-west is an essential region, but then so are many areas, if you only intend visiting once and can't spend a long time (this trip took six weeks) Queensland is probably a better bet.
