The USA West Coast

Most birders who travel will at one time or another have visited North America. Although we are no exception, to date we have only visited the West Coast. Plenty of birds are usually the norm., (but not obviously the huge numbers in the tropics), with lots of variety. An advantage is that most of the families will be familiar to European birders. Most of the frequently visited states have their own specialities, those of the West range from Thayer's Gull, Varied Thrush and Rock Sandpiper in the Washington area to Yellow-billed Magpie, Elegant Tern and Heermann's Gull in California.
