Goa-West coastal India

A popular birding destination,Goa is easily visited on a package holiday, and provides easy and enjoyable birding. There is a large variety of species including waterbirds, waders, raptors, passerines and colourful bee-eaters, rollers and kingfishers, whilst large gull flocks include many Central Asian species wintering. This makes it the best place in the world to see the superb Great Black-headed (Pallas') Gull in breeding plumage. Since our visit Backwoods Camp has opened in the Western Ghats, making even more species such as Malabar Trogon, Hornbills and Nightjars more accessible.
