Gambia

A good value and birding destination,a two week trip to Gambia, especially if you go upriver, will enable you to see almost three hundred species, including the famous Egyptian Plover, for which there are now new sights not involving the journey to Basse. As with most parts of Africa raptors abound (35 species or more), and Bee-eaters, Kingfishers and Rollers all contribute to a colourful avifauna. For a first visit to the continent Gambia is ideal, although mammals are few, a chance of Hippo being perhaps the most likely.
