MEDITERRANEAN GULL Ichthyaetus melanocephalus

As suggested by its scientific name, a truly black headed gull, its smart plumage is becoming increasingly familiar in England, where it now breeds in small numbers. In adult plumage it is also a "white-winged" gull, but younger birds have black in the primaries.
