Familiar in England and found in much of the world south of N.Europe except Australia, this
is the typical Night-heron. It is found in a large variety of
habitats and usually breeds colonially, where it is often active during daylight. These
photos show three of the four subspecies, nycticorax taken in Armenia, hoactli
(Baja) and obscurus on Tierra del Fuego.
