With a more Eurasian bias to its distribution, breeding primarily in Eastern Europe and Asia, again a
regular vagrant to the UK. Difficult to distinguish in some plumages from other Marsh Terns, adult breeding birds are unmistakeable.
Winters in Africa in large flocks, also south-east Asia and Australia, whilst it is the only "marsh" tern wintering in
New Zealand.
