THAYER'S GULL Larus thayeri

For long the subject of taxonomic debate, now usually accepted as a good species, this bird remains very hard to distinguish from Kumlien's & Iceland Gulls in immature plumage, not to mention numerous hybrid birds of other taxa in its areas of occurence. Adults are somewhat more distinctive, the strawberry pink legs being one of the more noticeable features. STOP PRESS-just been lumped again, but I'm not changing anything!
