KUMLIEN'S GULL Larus glaucoides kumlieni

Usually considered a subspecies of Iceland Gull, although personally I find it closer to Thayer's Gull. A regular winter visitor to Britain, its main breeding area is Baffin Island, Canada. Iceland Gull breeds further east generally but there is an overlap zone, where hybrids occur. Whether this precludes its acceptance as a full species is subject to further study.
