The most pelagic tern, breeding mainly on tropical islands, but found over a wider area than the similar Bridled Tern. It is much more pelagic also,
returning to land only to breed, and often seen in large feeding flocks far out to sea. Both species have occurred in
Britain in recent years, although Bridled more often, probably from colonies off West Africa & in the Red Sea.
The left hand bird is a vagrant taken on Anglesey, which has also recorded Bridled Tern.
