An exclusively pelagic tern, restricted to the tropical Pacific and quite widespread, but actual numbers seem to be quite
low since it is infrequently seen at sea, and certainly not in the large flocks common to Sooty Terns. It breeds singly or in small
colonies and is thought to be mainly sedentary. Formerly known as Grey-backed Tern.
