A common and widespread species from Oman to Japan, and South-east Asia to the Seychelles. Although we saw them many years ago in Hong Kong,
it was only on my recent visit to Sri Lanka that I got any photos, birds seemingly less secretive than Least and Little Bitterns, we saw at
least six in a small area.
