There are only two species of Openbill Storks, the bill
giving them the name has evolved to cope with their main prey, snails. The Asian species is
found in the same habitats as the previous species, but is not as common. Breeding birds are white, this
becomes greyish when not breeding, and juveniles can be extensively dark, but never as dark as most African
birds. They are quite happy to associate with other similar species, the right hand shot from Sri Lanka
has a Great Egret out of view in the same tree.
