A common species of the West and Central Pacific area. Although not a ship-follower, it often approaches closely. Quite distinctive in the region, but difficult to separate from Phoenix Petrel, of which I have no photo to show how difficult (very). Also has probably been "hiding" Beck's Petrel for years, which looks almost exactly the same but is 15-20% smaller.
