The Procellaria petrels consist of five species which are somewhat shearwater-like in jizz, and
larger than Pterodromae. Two, including this taxon, are circumpolar in subantarctic regions, but not known to breed in the Pacific. All are dark brown except
Grey, which is unique in appearence. A ship-follower, classified as near-threatened, their large range means they are somewhat uncommon, although we have encountered
them south of New Zealand and in the Atlantic.
