FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATER Ardenna carneipes

Another all dark Shearwater found in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. 70% breed on islands off North New Zealand and Southern Australia, 25% on Lord Howe, and a few on St. Paul in the Indian Ocean. Dispersal is to the west and north, as far as the Sea of Okhotsk in the Pacific, and South Africa and the Arabian Sea in the Indian Ocean. Listed as near-threatened, it is in decline due to its habit of attending trawlers (and ships bearing chum!)
