The largest and most distinctive of the genus, breeding on Subantarctic islands around the world but with only a few colonies in Antarctica. Two subspecies occur, distinguished by size and bill shape,and are confined to certain areas, but there is little evidence for a split. I have illustrated both here for the sake of completeness, the top birds are the more widespread race, , the others , found on the Antarctic peninsular. |
