WILSON'S PLOVER Charadrius wilsonia

A "ringed" type plover with a distinctly large bill, this bird is found on beaches, or in dunes just behind, in many areas of northern South America, Central America and the USA, as far north as Virginia, although it is rare on the west coast. Never a numerous species, we visited many areas before finally tracking one down in North Carolina.
