WHITE-TAILED PLOVER Vanellus leucurus

Still very difficult to see in its breeding areas in Iraq, Iran and parts of Central Asia, this bird is usually near shallow water, and migratory populations winter in N.India, the Middle East and N.E.Africa. The breeding range is slowly expanding west to Turkey, Greece etc.,these were taken in Armenia whereas the thumbnail is the first record for the UK for nearly forty years.
