SPOTTED SANDPIPER Actitis macularia

The Nearctic equivalent of the previous species, wintering in South America rather than Africa. A reasonably common vagrant to the UK, and has bred on one occasion on the Isle of Man. An increasing proportion of birds are in breeding plumage, but whether that is due to the difficulty of identifying non-breeders is not certain.
