SOUTH AMERICAN TERN Sterna hirundinacea

Similar in appearence to Common Tern, but does not undertake long migrations and is found primarily in South America. The two can occur side by side, but moult is usually an indication as Common Terns are in non-breeding plumage in the south, at a time when the current species sports breeding dress.
