SOUTH AMERICAN SNIPE Gallinago paraguaiae

Several snipe occur in South America, but most are difficult to see, let alone photograph. The taxonomy has had several changes with regard to those which are closest to Common Snipe, especially in appearence. At present this species is the common widespread one, with Andean Snipe a high-altitude cousin, but the bird photographed was previously regarded as a distinct species, Magellan Snipe Gallinago magellanica
