RED-CAPPED PLOVER Charadrius ruficapillus

Following several splits this species is now an Australian endemic, found on shorelines both coastally and inland, although we have found them to be commoner on the coast. Kentish Plover is a rare vagrant, but the red cap is far more intense on this species, which is sedentary as far as rainfall will allow, although there is a record from New Zealand.
