Often split into this and Mongolian Plover
as the breeding and wintering areas of the latter are further east, and there are size and plumage differences.
Most of this group winter in western Asia and Africa, and are vagrants to Western Europe including the UK
the left hand bird being one of the first records, in Lincolnshire.
