IBISBILL Ibidorhyncha struthersii

One of the world's most enigmatic waders, due to its unique appearence and breeding grounds confined to high altitude stony river beds of central Southern Asia. Fairly readily seen on wintering grounds at lower altitude in Nepal and N. India, breeding birds are rarely photographed. I was lucky enough to get this in Kazakhstan, the poor quality is due to excessive enlargement as a close approach was not an option. Although the plumage is striking, they blend in remarkably well with their typical habitat, as the colours of the rocks will perhaps indicate.
