EURASIAN OYSTERCATCHER Haematopus ostralegus

The Oystercatcher familiar to most people in the UK, so similar are other pied species that only birders would realise any difference, antipodeans probably think theirs is the only one. This one is found over much of Europe and Asia, and parts of Africa. The white chinstrap on the left hand bird is seen on winter adults and 1st summer birds, this is probably the latter.
