EASTERN WILLET Tringa semipalmata semipalmata

A North American wader, the northern populations of which are strongly migratory, moving as far as N.Brazil. This is the eastern race, which is much more likely to occur in the UK. There have been a couple of records on the continent, but Britain still waits. It is unlikely that a bird would be overlooked, given the striking wing pattern, but the jizz is also quite unique, with long legs but a relatively short, thick bill.
