COMMON SNIPE Gallinago gallinago

The snipe found over much of Eurasia, wintering to the south, its migratory nature makes it the confusion species for several similar species such as Pintail and Swinhoe's. At one time the species included up to three others which have now been split, the most recent being the North American Wilson's, formerly race delicata, which has occurred in the UK.
