BALEARIC SHEARWATER Puffinus mauretanicus

One of the "Manx"-type shearwaters, long accepted as a good species, which is now considered endangered due largely to its limited breeding range, mostly on Formentera. It is much browner than Manx Shearwater, which, oddly, I have only recently photographed, and has a diffuse division between dark upperparts and pale underparts. Given the numbers, it is surprisingly often seen in British waters.
