Also known as Jackass Penguin, this is one of four similar looking penguins in the genus Spheniscus, and is the only penguin found in Africa, breeding mainly on offshore islands of South Africa and Namibia, with a few mainland colonies. It is listed as Vulnerable, due mainly to disturbance and loss of habitat. |
