SILVERY GREBE Podiceps occipitalis

This species is split by many authorities into Northern (juninensis) and Southern (occipitalis), currently it is a potential split with IOC, I'm hoping to get improved photos so just one page for now. Southern birds are quite common in central Chile and Argentina, migrating north in winter to southern areas of Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay. It is a low-altitude species, whereas Northern is an Andean specialist from Colombia south, and is listed as near-threatened, the central bird being an example.
