WESTERN GULL Larus occidentalis

As with the previous species a West coast USA breeder, but with a more southerly distribution and almost exclusively marine. It occurs in two subspecies, differing mainly in mantle colour. Intergrades occur but the Northern subspecies is the paler of the two, although both occur together in some areas.
