Well known to Northern Hemisphere birders as a winter visitor in large flocks, this
bird is an Arctic breeder and as such is far less often seen in breeding plumage. Even rarer is the albino bird shown here in a
flock on the shores of the Wash, in Norfolk. Almost circumpolar and migrating south, it can be seen all over the world.
