PERUVIAN THICKNEE Burhinus superciliaris

The more widespread American Thicknee, found in Central and northern South America, similar in appearence to the previous species but a larger and longer-legged bird. Essentially sedentary, it is found from southern Mexico to northern Brazil. Birds are encouraged around farms to control insects, this shot was taken in the dry Llanos of Venezuela on one of the ranches.
