Found from Iran to South-east Asia, but nowhere particularly numerous, it has taken
us several trips to get decent photos, these being from Sri Lanka. One of only two Esacus stone-curlews which are both similar but distinct
from all others. Over the years (and field guides) it has been known by various names, including Great Thicknee and Great Stone-plover, I wonder
how long this name will last?
