CABOT'S TERN Thalasseus acuflavidus

The recent split of Cabot's Tern has only really served to muddy the waters in terms of the Cayenne Tern conundrum, and also the famous "yellow-billed" Anglesey bird, which is the right-hand photo. It is on the British list courtesy of an old specimen which was ringed, but is virtually indistinguishable in the field from Sandwich Tern, although slightly smaller. Two races occur, one black and the other yellow-billed, but they intergrade.
