BROWN-HEADED GULL Chroicocephalus brunnicephalus

Breeding in Central Asia and a common wintering species in India and Thailand, this bird is superficially similar to our Black-headed Gull, although somewhat larger and stockier, with a very different wing pattern. Breeding plumage birds aren't seen too often, since they move to high-altitude lakes and only a few attain their full hoods on wintering grounds.
