BLACK-TAILED GODWIT Limosa limosa

A familiar bird to most European birders, three races occur from Iceland to Eastern Asia, breeding in damp moorland and marshy areas. Highly migratory, wintering birds occur over an even larger area from Britain, through tropical Africa and to Australia. The left hand bird is an Eastern Asian race, smaller and with a somewhat reduced wing bar.
