RUFOUS-BELLIED HERON Ardeola rufiventris

Occuring mainly in parts of southern Africa, this distinctive small heron is related to pond herons, and is nowhere numerous, although its solitary habits in part account for this. The easiest place to see them seems to be the Okavango in Botswana, this individual was photographed at Mabamba swamp in Uganda.
