ROYAL SPOONBILL Platalea regia

One of two Australian species, both of which are quite common, although this seems to be more widespread. It is often seen on the coast unlike its congener, which is more usually found inland. Not an endemic, Royal also occurs in New Guinea, The Solomons Java and New Caledonia.
