BLACK-HEADED HERON Ardea melanocephala

An African Heron, found over all of sub-Saharan Africa, but not Madagascar, where Humblot's Heron is the only Ardea. It is superficially similar to Grey Heron but not closely related, and appearing slightly smaller and slimmer.
