Similar in appearence to the previous species, and once considered a subspecies, it is actually not
closely related. A Chilean endemic, breeding on the Des Venturada and Juan Fernandez Islands, it is common in the Humboldt current. A very adept flier, it is less given to
wild careening flight, and will allow ships to approach quite closely. Listed as vulnerable, birds
were common off Chile in March, which is just post-breeding, although they disperse as far as Pitcairn, they tend to stay all year between their natal islands
and the Humboldt.
