A smaller, and paler bird than most similar Pterodromae,
with a fast swooping flight (difficult to photograph). Breeding on Great and Little Barrier, and Codfish Islands, off N.Z., it
has a large pelagic range as far as the Aleutians and Baja California. Of course, such a dashing attractive species doesn't
follow ships, hence the poor photos which were taken at some distance. The first bird is a breeding bird off New Zealand, the others,
in heavy moult, were in the Humboldt Current wintering area.
