Before the discovery of Pincoya Storm-petrel there were considered to be three subspecies of Wilson's. Antarctic
breeders tended to be larger, but the race occuring around the Chilean fjords and islands is smaller and more compact, leading Harrison to suggest it as
a seperate species, probably closer to Pincoya. It can be identified from both Pincoya and Wilson's, and does not overlap in range with the latter,
plus it is essentially non-migratory, dispersing into the Humboldt Current north to Ecuador, but the full extent of the breeding range is unknown.
Breeding mainly on islands, Falkland birds are thought to be this taxon.
