EUROPEAN STORM-PETREL Hydrobates pelagicus

The familiar "stormie" to British birders, breeding on predator-free islands of Britain, Norway, the Canaries and the Mediterranean. Whilst dispersing over much of the Atlantic as far as 200mls south of the Cape,they are rare in American waters. There is a recent suggestion that the Mediterranean taxa may be a cryptic species.
