COMMON DIVING PETREL Pelecanoides urinatrix

Marginally the largest diving-petrel, this is also the most widespread, and breeds on many subantarctic islands as well as southern Chile and South-east Australia ans New Zealand, overlapping all three other species. Six subspecies, based on geographic situations, have been described, but up to three cryptic species may be involved. Given the difficulties of researching this taxa, don't hold your breath!
