CAPE VERDE SHEARWATER Calonectris edwardsii

Split some time ago from Cory's, this endemic breeder is by contrast, quite different, being slimmer and smaller, imparting a completely different jizz. Most have a capped effect and a pinkish, slim bill. Again usually found in flocks, birds disperse to the Brazil-Falklands convergence and are vagrants to other parts of the Atlantic, being unrecorded off South Africa. There is a record from Eastern USA, but generally birds are much less widespread than other Calonectris species, are are listed as near-threatened.
