The most widespread and abundant frigatebird, but less oten encountered as its stronghold is the Pacific, and it breeds on isolated
islands in the main. The small Atlantic population is centred on Trindade, but colonies are on Hawaii, Galapagos, Christmas, and many other Pacific and Indian Ocean islands. This causes
it to be sympatric with other Frigatebirds (except Ascension) and identification, particularly adult males, can be problematic. There are five described subspecies, those near the Equator
are sedentary whereas other populations disperse/migrate.
