Another island endemic, its breeding island, although closer to Java, puts it on the Australian list. It disperses to
the Andaman Sea and east as far as the South China sea, although there have been vagrants to Australia, mainly Northern Territory, and also Kenya. The male is unique in
having a white belly patch; due to the problems experienced by mining on Christmas Island it is listed as critically endangered.
