Despite recent large reductions in numbers due to longlining, still the commonest albatross, a circumpolar breeder on islands of which the Falklands/Malvinas are probably its stronghold. Familiar to most British birders due to a number of sightings around the coast, and several long-staying birds which have settled in Gannet colonies.
